The Village Has A
New Name
Everyone stared at the large
aircraft.
“My company owns it,
Rhasha,” Jim replied.
“It’s used to transport company
employees from one city to another in the
States.”
“But you own the
company, don’t you?” she
exclaimed.
“Yes, that’s how I
make a living.”
“So you own that plane,
if you own the company, right?”
Rhasha asked.
Jim couldn’t understand
why Rhasha was so hung up about who owned
the plane. He knew she didn’t admire
money and she certainly wasn’t a
gold-digger. “Yes, I own the
plane.”
Rhasha’s eyes opened
wide. She threw her arms around
Jim’s neck and kissed him wildly.
“Please, please, please, can I
please fly that plane, Jim?”
Jim had to laugh, now that
he knew what she was up to. “Rhasha,
even I don’t know how to fly that
plane. It’s different from our
little propeller-driven plane.”
Rhasha’s excitement
turned to disappointment. She hung her
head, but Jim knew how to cheer her up.
“Sweetheart, when we get inside the
plane, I’ll get the pilot to show
you the instruments. After you see the
instruments, then you’ll understand
why you can’t fly a jet.”
“OK, Jim. I’d love
to see the controls.”
They all climbed out of the
jeep and walked toward the ambulance,
where the ambulance driver and
Rhasha’s family were also climbing
out. The driver opened the back door and
Jim, Jackie, Simbatu, and Thamish
unloaded the luggage and band equipment.
They carried everything to the steps of
the plane.
