Chapter
2 - Page 20 - Vision Of Africa
Jim
shook Raymond’s hand. “From now
on, Raymond, I want you to be more than
just my chauffeur, I want us to be
friends.”
Raymond’s face showed
more respect for Jim than it ever had
before. “It would be my honor to
count you as a friend,” he replied.
“You will always be welcome in my
home.”
Jim released Raymond’s
hand and turned to walk toward the plane,
Bible and briefcase in hand. Before he
could take a step, Mike approached him.
“Good morning,
Jim.” Mike reached out to shake
Jim’s hand.
Jim slipped his Bible into
his other hand so they could shake hands.
“Good morning, Mike.”
As Jim and Mike talked about
the plane’s minor mechanical
problems, Raymond took Jim’s bags
out of the limo’s trunk and carried
them onto the plane. Before Jim and Mike
finished their conversation, Mario joined
them.
“Will your family be OK
for a few days while you’re in
Africa?” Jim asked him.
“Yes sir,” Mario
replied. “Pat’s brother will be
here if she needs any help.”
“OK then, if
you’re ready, let’s go to
Africa.” Jim put his hand on
Mario’s shoulder and jokingly spun
him around, and they both climbed up the
stairs to the plane.
Raymond waited at the door
of the plane. Jim put his hand on
Raymond’s shoulder. “Thanks,
Raymond, for carrying my bags on the
plane.”
Raymond grinned and left.
